General Manager

Job Summary: Serves as the general manager for a well respected club in Santa Rosa. The manager is responsible for all aspects of the club including its, activities and relationships between the club and board of directors, members, guests, employees, community, government and industry. Sustains and administers the club's policies as defined by its board of directors. Directs the work of all employees either directly or through others; prepares an annual budget and monitors club expenditures to budget; monitors the quality of the club's products and services and ensures maximum member and guest satisfaction unless otherwise directed by the board of directors. Secures and protects the club's assets including facilities and equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements general policies established by the board of directors; directs their administration and execution.
- Plans, directs and approves specific operational policies, programs.
- Consistently ensures that the club is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.
- Develops, maintains and administers a sound organizational plan; initiates operations improvements and structures a plan for their implementation.
- Financial Reports to the board of directors on a monthly base via e-mail one week prior to the board meeting.
- Ensures that the club insurance policies are current and that risk management practices are in place to minimize club liability:
- Maintains an employee payroll system that meets standard and required documentation and reporting practices.
- All employees whether full time, part-time, temporary or temporary part-time need to be processed through the payroll systems and the appropriate deductions need to be accounted.
Establish and maintain a human resource/personnel management program that at a minimum must include:
- Coordinates and serves as ex-officio member of appropriate club committees.
- Ensures the highest standards are met for food, beverage, sports, recreation, entertainment and other club services. Makes recommendations for additional programs and services to the appropriate committee.
- Oversees the care and maintenance of all the club's physical assets and facilities. Ensuring that proper cleanliness and sanitation of all club facilities and environments are met.
- Establishes policy and procedure for club purchases and monitors to ensure purchasing procedures, inventories and related systems are functioning correctly.
- Attends meetings of the Board of Directors
- Reports member infractions to the board for necessary action.
- Serves as a liaison between the staff and the board.
- Maintains good relationships with local government, police and fire agencies.
- Publishes a monthly newsletter and maintains the club's email list to contact members as necessary.
- Maintains a current list of members and publishes a member's directory on an annual basis.
- Coordinates as necessary arrangements for public functions and social gatherings.
Requirement:
- Previous Management experience working for a, Destination Spot, Restaurant, Event Center, Wine Center or Convention Center or any hospitality industry experience.
- Must have exceptional people skills as membership attraction and retention should be a priority. Manager must display the ability to know members intimately. Assures members are treated with respect and politeness.
- A finance background which would include knowledge of how to read a balance sheet and income statement required.
- Experience in event planning is desirable.
Certification by CMAA desirable but not required.
Work hours:
Mon-Fri 8-5 and weekend or special events on occasion as needed
