Nelson Engineering Search is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop imaging systems used in harsh environments. This position will be responsible for developing analog and digital circuits and systems. Candidates should be familiar with the entire design life cycle process starting with requirements from the Sales team through specifications and test for the Production and QA teams.
§ Product design from conception through the lifecycle of the product with respect to EMI/EMC compliance standards
§ Design lighting and light control circuits, electronic and electromechanical systems, and other products as relevant.
§ Design products to comply with appropriate safety standards (UL, CSA, CE).
§ Specify electrical components for customer applications.
§ Provide technical expertise to support current products and new product development
§ Evaluate and determine appropriate electrical and mechanical specifications.
§ Create schematics, PCB layout, parts lists, and embedded software.
§ Specify, develop, and perform appropriate tests or experiments to validate and verify that their design meets the product requirements and ensure product quality and reliability.
§ Perform root cause failure analysis and HALT testing as appropriate to facilitate product development and continuous improvement.
§ Work and communicate effectively with all team members and other groups within the company
§ Interface with sales and marketing to support the evaluation of the technical feasibility of customer requirements.
§ Work with customers as needed to support the development and use of company products products.
§ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science and min. 2 years directly related experience
§ Familiarity with standard documentations tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
§ Familiar with ECR/ECN procedures
§ Working knowledge of ISO9000/AS9100 or other quality standards
§ Experience designing to meet EMC/EMI standards; Experience with HALT testing and failure analysis
§ Basic knowledge of control theory and algorithm design
§ Comprehension of device characteristics and issues with switching behavior in circuits
§ Knowledge of the proper management of thermal issues in electronic systems
§ Familiar with PCB design and an understanding of layout issues
§ Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software (preferably Altium Designer)
§ Understanding of digital and analog hardware
§ Ability to author technical documents and proposals
§ Able to safely assemble, test and repair electronic equipment to the component level
§ Use logic and reasoning to identify and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
§ Clear oral, written, and active listening communication skills
§ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
