The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the PayPal Core Services. Primary responsibility is implementing highly available and scalable infrastructure for core services.
Responsibilities include:
- Researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies
- Driving high-level and detailed technical design documents, and active participation in design reviews.
- Delivery of highly scalable and available systems.
- Developing technical roadmap and help meet the strategic objectives
- Creating and reviewing Technical Design Documents (TDDs) for the development organization based on product requirements
- Collaborate effectively with peer application designers and Architecture team to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas and resolve technological disagreement with informed, rational debate.
We are looking for exceptional software engineers that have a strong command of C++ in a UNIX/Linux environment and strong SQL background.
- 10+ years of experience in software development.
- Experience developing software for use in a high-availability environment.
- Expertise in the software development lifecycle, especially large-scale application development and the use of multiple environments for development, testing and live deployment.
- PL/SQL development experience
- Database design and development experience.
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve application design considerations and technical issues.
- Proficient in scripting.
- Strong software design, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
