Experience working as a Sourcing Manager a plus but not necessary! A background in Dairy, Cheese or Creamery industry is ideal

SUMMARY
Manage the strategic sourcing of Dairy related materials for a company committed to quality and with a passion for what they do.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain a steady source of high quality dairy products that meet Organic and Conventional requirements
• Responsible for sourcing 10-12 million dollars in product annually.
• Develop relationships with new and emerging regional and national organic dairy companies who are capable of providing consistent quality at a fair price.
• Monitor supplier performance and processes to maintain quality specifications.
• Communicate regularly with QA dept and other departments to resolve quality and production issues.
• Identify and implement supply chain cost reduction projects that maintain or improve the quality of our -dairy based raw materials.
• Identify opportunities to improve our inbound supply chain by recommending new procurement or receiving strategies.
• Work with Materials Planning to facilitate the smooth flow of materials from the suppliers into production. Maintain accurate records of dairy products Purchased and received.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for dairy materials to support the long term growth of the company.
• Work with suppliers and logistics to facilitate transport timing to plants.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May be responsible for supervising administrative support or provide feedback on the performance of others in the department.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• The a Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Dairy Science, Food Science or equivalent experience preferred but not necessary
• Candidates must have at least 10 years experience in dairy industry and quality control standards for dairy products and experience negotiating high level multiyear agreements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to analyze and solve basic math and algebraic problems.
• Capable of using the computer as a tool: spreadsheets, word processing and presentation skills.
• Able to use an MRP and other computer tools to forecast future agricultural material needs.
The job will require travel by air or car to fields or processors especially during harvest to verify quality.
