USP Structural Connectors is a metal fabricating manufacturer serving the residential and commercial building industries throughout the United States. USP's product line encompasses over 4,000 finished part numbers: standard construction hardware for the light construction and retail/do-it-yourselfer markets, as well as a complete line of connectors for the Engineered Lumber and Plated Truss industries.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Grow existing accounts and establish new accounts according to the target list and with respect to Company goals. Make consistent contact with building officials, architects, engineers, other building design professionals and contractors and framers to assure USP products are accepted and specified in the territory. Regularly obtain and develop knowledge of territory, including: market pricing, code and product issues, distributors, dealers, component manufacturers, commercial accounts and others as required. In all business practices, be mindful of profit and promote USP as a company of people, service, and product.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contact and educate building officials, contractors, engineers, and other design professionals within the residential and commercial markets to ensure USP products are accepted and specified throughout the territory.
- Develop and maintain a market development database that includes the key accounts and prospects, the key builders, framers, engineers and building officials within the territory. This is a living document and will be shared with the Regional Manager, USP Marketing Department and other appropriate personnel.
- Develop business development programs with each of your key accounts that include sales objectives and product and sales training.
- Increase area sales volume to obtain assigned sales objectives.
- Provide product awareness and product knowledge training to customers, building officials, engineers and other design professionals on a consistent basis.
- Complete paperwork, i.e. expense reports, call reports, and target account reports. Follow-up activity on a weekly basis to ensure customer satisfaction. Keep Regional Sales Manager aware of sales conditions in the territory.
- Develop territory a sales plan with specific and measurable sales objectives with the Regional Manager, that supports the efforts of the EWP Manager, Commercial Manager, Buying Group Manager and other appropriate personnel as required.
- Attend Trade Shows for customers and industry associations.
- Work closely with Customer Service and Engineering departments at the Regional Plant to ensure USP provides the proper products, code approvals, and services to meet annual sales objectives.
- Set up displays at key dealer accounts throughout the territory.
- Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, marketing or equivalent.
- One to two years sales experience preferably in the Construction Industry and/or retail sales in construction related hardware.
- Able to travel at least fifty percent of the time.
- Working knowledge of blueprints and building materials.
- Computer literate; Personal Computer proficient.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS
100% duties performed while working in an assigned territory either standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, or driving.
