Job Description: Buyer Assistant

Pay Range: $28.00-32.00/hr

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the ideal candidate will perform varied purchasing assignments to procure supplies, raw materials, services, and equipment, which are necessary for the operation of the organization. Conducts research to identify qualified suppliers & vendors, and contacts suppliers/vendors to obtain proposals, quotations, and bids; makes awards and places orders for items, and then provides support in follow-up activities to expedite the delivery of goods/services. This individual will be the point person for responding to general inquiries from production staff and other team members, and up to 20% of the time may perform other miscellaneous tasks to support the other Business Units within the Division.

Essential Functions:

  • Process internal Purchase Requisitions
  • Purchasing of assigned commodities or materials
  • Support/Drive continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure supplier agreements are met, including delivery, price, quality
  • Create and update Source Control Documents as needed
  • Lead & Document cost reduction and/or quality enhancement activities
  • Ability to work professionally with internal customers and external suppliers
  • Facilitate processing of invoices in an automated AP system
  • Maintain ethical standards when working with external suppliers
  • Support economic sustainability by staying within budget
  • Support environmental sustainability when purchasing from suppliers

Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of experience
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Successfully able to establish priorities and clarify expectations with customers & suppliers in verbal or written form
  • Ability to successfully support a team: foster teamwork, share responsibilities, take initiative, and maintain open communication
  • Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with management, employees, and guests in a positive and professional manner
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented

Physical Demands/Qualifications

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to operate a computer for long periods of time without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist, or eye strain
  • Must have good communication skills in person, on the telephone, and on mobile phone
  • Must have coordination sufficient to operate various office machines
