  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions for the organization. Supervise accounting team to ensure accurate accounting records for the organization in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensure transactions are documented with the appropriate audit trail and appropriate internal controls are in place to reduce risk.
  • Manage and participate in the monthly close process, including detailed general ledger review of multiple entities and consolidating intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare and communicate timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements, including budget variance analysis.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support and continuous learning and development opportunities for the accounting team, including actively working to promote and recognize performance or identify problem areas and take corrective action.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement department improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Support with budgeting, forecasting, & long-range planning.
  • Oversees financial compliance across the organization of all applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Coordinate and oversee the year-end external audit process as well as work with third party tax advisors to ensure timely filing of all required filings. Prepares GAAP & Tax LIFO calculations.
  • Engage with senior management & department managers providing financial guidance and support with ad hoc projects.


  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller within a winery environment.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in the accounting field, MBA preferred/CPA preferred.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm towards leading a team, ability to inspire trust and be motivated by continuous growth and development.
  • Requires outstanding organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience with multiple brands and/or entities highly desirable.
  • Wine costing experience with SKU level informative results preferred.
  • QuickBooks accounting experience a plus.
  • Advanced level skills in the use of Excel.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and maintaining the highest level of integrity and confidentiality are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, at all hierarchical levels.
  • Should be self-motivated, confident, high energy, decisive, and collaborative in approach.


  • Base Salary range $160,000 to $175,000 plus Bonus incentive
