Nelson Connects is hiring a successful Grant Writer, to be working for a growing non-profit organization located in Santa Rosa, Ca. For this role we are looking for individuals that demonstrate excellent research skills - high attention to detail- a deep understanding of the mission and specifics needs of the programs they are seeking funding for, securing financial resources in making a positive impact for the community.

Grant Writer

Santa Rosa, Ca

Pay range: $29.00 per hour - $29.00 per hour.

We are seeking candidates, who must have the following qualities/experience:

  • B.A. in English, Journalism, Media, Communications and creative writing
  • Certified Grant Writer desirable
  • Required to have over (5) five years of experience in grant writing, prospect research and general funding.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Knowledge of grant management software Oracle, NetSuite, Bloomerang or Sage Intact highly desired.
  • Expertise in case management, generating reports, and analyzing data from systems.
  • Identify potential grant opportunities that align with nonprofit organization's mission/funding needs.
  • Collaborate with managers, researchers, and staff to gather information and project details.
  • Create detailed budgets to align with proposal project, ensure all expenses have been accounted for.
  • Provide a clear financial plan to support the proposal. Maintain and update records of applicants.
  • Collect all application materials, narratives, budgets, supporting documents are completed by deadline.
  • Cultivate relationships with Grant makers, program officials and potential funding sources.
  • Monitor awarded grants to ensure compliance with grant terms and reporting requirements.
  • Retain the grant calendar up to date, manage and assign tasks to grants team to meet all deadlines.
  • Maintain a database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
  • Track status of pending awarded and declined grants.
  • Collect feedback from funders and review declined proposals to refine future applications.
  • Assist with grant-related administrative tasks, contract negotiations, amendments and closure activities.
