Our client, an innovative packaging manufacturer in Oakland, is seeking a temp-to-hire HR Coordinator with Payroll experience. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee day-to-day HR Operations and oversee the payroll of 135 employees. The company was founded in 1980 and has exploded within the industry as innovators and leaders in the design and production of folding packaging for retail, grocery and beyond. In particular, their sustainable packaging line has lead the industry, demonstrating how low-imprint packaging can also be durable, high-impact and cost approachable.

What are the core duties/responsibilities of this role?

1. Manage recruitment of new candidates:
    • Coordinate with Department Managers for recruiting needs
    • Construct Job Descriptions if not already available based on specific job functions
    • Post Ads in recruiting channels and Recruiting web sites
    • Screen all applicants based on Job Description and requirements
    • Coordinates Benefits Administration
2. New Hire Processing and Coordination:
    • On Boarding paperwork
    • Coordination with Controller on New Employee set up
    • All pre hire screening
3. Employee Benefits:
    • Coordinate Open Enrollment annually
    • Organize and administer annual enrollments & filing with benefit providers
    • New Hire benefit administration
    • Ensure all new hires signed up with benefits at eligibility date
4. Employee Termination Processing:
    • All aspects

5. Personnel Evaluation Management:

    • Coordinate with all Department Managers for annual and other periodic employee evaluations
    • Maintain all Personnel files through the Payroll Platform Service
    • Payroll System Install and conversions

6. Workers Compensation:

    • Administration of all work related injuries
    • OSHA management and reporting - where applicable
    • Coordination of injury and claim management
What are the key attributes/qualifications required for this role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or Related Field
  • Will accept extensive Job Experience if no degree
  • Human Resource Management Experience , 5+ years' experience
  • Strong Excel Spreadsheet and Microsoft Word experience and capability
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to work independently on daily/weekly/monthly tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player - able to work in collaborative environment
Other Desired (but not required) Skills:
  • Accuchex Payroll Systems experience
  • Accounting general knowledge/exposure
