Job Title: HR Director (Nonprofit Sector)

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Director to provide strategic leadership and drive organizational change initiatives within our nonprofit organization. The HR Director will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and programs that align with the organization's mission, values, and goals. This role requires a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector, a strong background in HR management, and a proven ability to lead change and promote a positive work culture.

Location: Onsite in Sonoma County


Compensation: $100-130K

Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and update HR policies and procedures that comply with legal requirements and best practices in the nonprofit sector.
    • Ensure policies are communicated effectively to employees and consistently applied throughout the organization.
    • Monitor policy compliance and address any issues or concerns proactively.
  2. Organizational Change:
    • Lead efforts to assess the organizational structure, and ensure it supports the organization's strategic objectives and design/implement change as needed.
    • Collaborate with senior management to identify areas for improvement and implement change management initiatives.
  3. Talent Acquisition and Management:
    • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the organization attracts and retains top talent.
    • Develop and implement effective strategies for sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
    • Create and manage onboarding programs to facilitate the smooth integration of new employees.
  4. Performance Management:
    • Develop and implement a performance management framework that aligns with the organization's goals and values.
    • Provide guidance and support to managers in setting performance objectives and conducting performance evaluations.
    • Implement mechanisms to recognize and reward high performers and address underperformance effectively.
  5. Employee Engagement and Development:
    • Foster a positive work culture that promotes accountability, employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being.
    • Implement initiatives to enhance employee success, such as employee recognition programs, wellness programs, and training.
    • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding career development, performance improvement, and conflict resolution.
  6. HR Administration and Compliance:
    • Oversee HR administrative functions, including employee record-keeping, payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS management.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
    • Oversee safety program.
    • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in HR management in the nonprofit sector and make recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience 8-10 years in HR management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to travel between locations
