For over 40 years, our client has been manufacturing and supplying a broad range of connectors, casters, hinges, rivets and other product lines to support its aerospace and manufacturing clientele. Due to a recent acquisition and forecasted business demands, we're seeking a Buyer to support the Procurement Manager and Purchasing department.

Under the direction of the Procurement team, the Buyer will be involved with various Purchasing activities involving the engineering, manufacturing and sales teams to obtain raw goods for finished goods inventory, both MRO indirect and direct Capitol equipment. To succeed in this space, seeking one with a purchasing background in mechanical assemblies, fasteners and components (strongly preferred).

Other tasks involved are:

  • Cost analysis and inventory planning for various commodities.
    • If suppliers are unable to meet demand, recommend other vendor suppliers to onboard.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with vital suppliers.
    • Optimize daily calendaring and scheduling for all incoming shipments.
  • Recommend areas for improvement for processes and policies and clearly communicate those with all levels of staff involved in the processes.
  • Work with suppliers to meet time sensitive deadlines around RFI/RFQs, purchase order processing, tracking delivery times and overall quality performance standards.

Education and Skills Required:

  • Working proficiency/Ability to read and understand mechanical and/or engineering designs, drawings, schematics, etc.
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning; ability to interpret and adhere to industry and market trends involving raw material and manufacturing resources.
  • Mandarin speaking ability a plus.
  • Solid time management skills, customer service, communication and presentation skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail. Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • 2-3+ years' minimum experience in a Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Buyer role preferably with Procurement/Supply Chain operations.
  • Education in Industrial or Mechanic Engineering or Business. Certification(s) CPM, APICS, Six Sigma, CPSM.

Assignment: Full-Time. Contract to hire or Direct Hire.

Compensation: $25 to $30 per hour (on occasion for OT, on a project by project basis)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
