Job Title: Revenue Accountant

Location: Fremont

Compensation: $100-115k + amazing benefits

Job Summary:

Our client, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing homelessness in the Tri-city area, is seeking a talented Revenue Accountant to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for managing the revenue recognition process for millions of dollars worth of government contracts. This is a complex role that offers significant challenges, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and success of the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Calculate/estimate the amount of revenue to be recognized/accrued in the books.
  • Perform revenue analytics based on contract funding types and analyze variances.
  • Perform funders/grants contract review to ensure proper revenue recognition is understood, documented, and correctly implemented.
  • Work with contracting and billing team to maintain a central repository of all contracts.
  • Corresponds with representatives from local, regional, state, and federal agencies regarding matters involving grant status, funding, reporting, and requirements. Communicates effectively, professionally, and cooperatively both verbally and in writing.
  • Review contracts and understand billing requirements from various funding sources.
  • Process month end financials for each cost center.
  • Detailed review of cost center expense.
  • Complete month-end close deliverables in timely manner and accurate manner to meet tight deadlines which include preparation of journal entries, accounts reconciliations, and testing of our internal revenue process to ensure that revenue accounting is accurate and complete.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience with reporting for various federal, state, county and city funding.
  • Technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, especially revenue recognition accounting standards (ASC605), is required.
  • Grants Experience (Federal, State, etc.) required.
  • Experience with preparing a schedule of expenditures of federal awards or with single audit under the Uniform Guidance is a plus.
  • High level of proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and database applications.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of a valid and current California Driver's License and current insurance along with a clean DMV record.
