Job Description & Summary
As Saw Operator , you will play a critical part in the success of the shop operations and be responsible for all of the lens and extrusion cutting processes that are needed to provide the Assembly area with parts to assemble. This role is required to follow the Shop Production Schedule and ensure that jobs are completed safely and efficiently.
You demonstrate excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment. You are a highly-motivated, quick, efficient, clean, and organized worker with strong problem solving skills. You are both quality and safe conscious, able to inspect your own work and work safely on the factory floor with complex machines, as well as identify, analyze, and provide solutions or alternate approaches to manufacturing problems using individual judgment and creativity.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:1 year previous shop experience in a manufacturing environment -- or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge: Training will be provided on the specifics of internal processes, workflows, systems and product.
Skills: Must be able to expertly run all shop equipment including band saw, table saw, drill press, grinder, etc. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have the ability to read engineering drawings and be familiar with GD&T standards. Must have high attention to detail, proven analytical ability, and organizational and time management skills. Must have ability to handle multiple tasks at once and be flexible with shifting priorities. Must have experience with a wide variety of materials and manufacturing. Must be detail-oriented, responsive, accessible, approachable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in teams.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. The employee must occasionally crouch, stoop or reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Specific Position Duties
Run all shop equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Perform shop calculations utilizing knowledge of material characteristics to determine optimum feeds, speeds, and dimensions.
Read engineering drawings and assist engineers in identifying and implementing improvements.
Identify, analyze, and provide solutions or alternate approaches to manufacturing problems.
Other duties and projects, as assigned.
