Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. Verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations. Prepares orders for shipment both small package and palletized. Follows SOP's and work instructions in performing the duties of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pick, pack, receive and ship orders on a daily basis.
Able to kit complex orders including a Bill of Materials.
Select appropriate shipping container and packs items to ensure safe delivery without damage.
Ship both domestic and international packages using the appropriate software as required by each order
Prepare bill of ladings; check items to be shipped against orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routings are correct.
Prepare commercial documentation for international orders
Maintain accurate inventory using stock management techniques including: FIFO, stock rotation, cycle counting and product identification.
Receive and unload incoming materials and cross reference with information on the packing slip vs purchase order to verify shipment accuracy; and, processes return shipments (RMA) from customers.
Effectively communicate with inside sales, purchasing and quality staff regarding shipping and receiving discrepancies and errors.
Inspect incoming shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damages and notify quality, logistics and/or purchasing personnel.
Competent in basic computer operations and data entry.
Will operate hand truck, cart, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; able to operate shrink wrap machine for palletized orders.
Perform daily warehouse maintenance and area clean up. May assist in routine maintenance of equipment.
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety standards.
Lead, guide, and train employees performing related work.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
Ability to receive, stock, track and/or deliver goods.
Ability to perform basic math equations with a good understanding of the Metric Measuring System.
Ability to communicate to work effectively with others and to precisely follow written procedures.
Familiar with UPS and FedEx shipping systems
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
Knowledge of light packing and shipping equipment operation and maintenance.
Ability to read, sort, check, count and verify numbers, using scales and other methods.
Ability to use a computer and access the internet.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
Knowledge of commercial shipping methods and procedures.
