The Position:
Sonoma is seeking for a short term the Shipping Assistant
executes daily coordination and execution of all in-house shipping and related logistics. Position is 50% strategy, coordination and computer work and 50% physical labor of packing, organizing, delivering.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

· This position handles packing and shipping of all in-house DTC orders, including but not limited to wine club, web & tasting room orders.

· Accurately handles uploading of orders to ship via UPS, FedEx or 3rd party carriers.

· Handles communication with club, tasting room, sales/wholesale departments & occasional customer support, including but not limited to interactions via email and phone for assistance regarding existing orders, general inquiries and returns.

· Assists with accurate inventory of retail, raw materials and shipping supplies

· Orders and inventories all shipping supplies.

· Organizes transfers: receiving, pulling and staging, delivering to and receiving from wineries (tasting rooms & warehouse).

· Documents customer returns and handles reship as needed.

· Responsible for special projects as directed by Warehouse Manager.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

· Must be at least 18 years old.

· 1-2 years of experience in shipping a plus.

· Proficient with UPS and FedEx systems a plus.

· Knowledge of ShipCompliant a plus

· Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

· Excellent team player.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Proficient with Microsoft Office/Excel.

· Willingness to help in a multitude of tasks and learn new skills and programs.

· Ability to respond to frequently changing needs.

· Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills

· Experience operating a forklift a plus. Training & certification available.

· English speaking. Bilingual a plus.


· Work is performed in a warehouse where temperatures can fluctuate from cool to warm frequently and noise level can be moderate to high.

· Mostly standing with occasional sitting to operate a desktop computer using keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions.

· Frequent standing and continuous walking on level surfaces. Occasional walking on uneven surfaces.

· Frequent bending and twisting.

· Ability to carry retail items in bins that may be heavy and bulky.

· Ability to occasionally push/ pull up to 10 pounds, frequently push/pull 11-20 pounds, and occasionally push/pull 21-50 pounds. occasional pushing/pulling of over 50 pounds.

· Ability to push and pull pallets via pallet jack with 14-56 wine cases.
