Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: San Francisco

Compensation: $70-75k

Job Summary:

Are you an experienced accounting professional with a passion for the nonprofit sector? Our client, a well-known nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join their team. This person must be a responsible individual who is highly detail-oriented and possesses strong aptitude for figures, contributing to the continued growth and success of the business. Job Title Responsibilities:

  • Review project-related accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, and PM provided rent rolls for accuracy
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare Fixed Asset Schedules for Real Estate additions and depreciation
  • Maintain loan payable and interest roll forward schedule
  • Prepare monthly journals on accrual basis for posting

· Prepare General Ledger accounts reconciliation and supporting documents for assigned properties as appropriate

· Upload intercompany activities and ACH cash disbursements into the accounting system

· Provide cash flow management and analysis on tight budget projects

· Assist in processing monthly accounts payable and accounts receivables, as assigned

· Prepare and produce properties' financial statements for internal and external reporting

· Work with Assistant Controller to identify and coordinate system changes and training mechanisms for other accounting department/staff

· Work with property management and other department staff to provide financial data

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to Four (3-4) years general ledger accounting experience
  • Computer knowledge in accounting systems, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Prior experience with residential property management preferred, not required.
  • Software experience with Yardi, MIP preferred, not required.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Good knowledge of double-entry accounting through general ledger
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Strong analytical skills, good organization skills, and constant attention to details
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate in a team environment and also able to work independently
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
