Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Santa Cruz

Compensation: $70-75k

Job Summary:

A privately held real estate corporation in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a Staff/Property Accountant to join their growing team. As a Staff/Property Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily real estate properties. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, providing financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Job Title Responsibilities:

· Prepare property bank statement reconciliations and record any related journal entries.

· Research any outstanding bank reconciliation items that have not cleared.

· Work with Property Managers and SCCB to handle problem deposits and bank adjustments, etc.

· Review property general ledgers and prepare journal entries such as reclassing expenses, accruals, prepaids, allocations, etc.

· Ensure capitalization policy is being followed while reviewing capital projects and expenditures.

· Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various GL accounts with supporting documentation.

· Review utilities closely and research as needed.

· Prepare and record monthly mortgage journal entries and RealPage software allocations.

· Record escrow disbursements and other loan activity.

· Be able to identify duplicate payments and resolve.

· Review tenant ledgers to support property managers or accounts payable.

· Prepare monthly financials for assigned properties and provide comments on variances and/or other unusual and large items for upper management's review.

· Assist with preparing yearly audit and supporting documentation.

· Assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Two or three or more years of accounting experience, 2+ years of experience directly related to G/L Accounting

· Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software

· Must have ERP system experience.

· Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills

· Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and upper management

· Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
