The Client is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to help oversee general accounting operations by verifying and reconciling our financial transactions. Staff Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, and reconciling balance sheet accounts. Note: This role requires bi-weekly in-person visits to the Oakland office to process AR.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Accounts Payable Processing
    • Nexonia and Bill.com payment processing and approvals
    • Adding new vendors to the systems
    • Managing Vendor Set Up form
  • Accounts Receivable
    • Deposit checks through Remote Deposit
    • Record deposit journal entries
  • Monthly credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain Bill.com/Nexonia AP
    • Crossed trained with Bill.com and Nexonia so that errors that happen can be fixed
    • Ensuring that system is syncing correctly across Intacct/Nexonia/Bill.com
    • Following up with staff on past due expense reports
    • Training, supporting, and adding new staff in Nexonia
  • Administrator for Bank of America corporate cards and emburse cards
    • Issue credit cards to new staff, resolve issues around fraud and reissuing cards
  • Audit Support
    • Assisting with PBC requests
    • AP documentation
  • AP/AR Aging reconciled to Balance Sheet
    • Creating report in Intacct that shows variances and ensuring accuracy
  • 1099 Maintenance
    • Ensuring that vendors are entered with W-9 information
    • Maintaining compliance with annual 1099-Misc/NEC distributions
  • Monthly Close Duties
    • Work closely with Assistant Controller to meet monthly close deadlines
    • Balance sheet reconciliations for all entities
    • Maintain depreciation schedule and record depreciation entries
    • Assist in other accounting and related projects, as required
  • Oversee accounting mailbox & inbox
  • Maintaining the property tax payments and schedule for each entity

Qualifications & Skills (including preferred):

  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience in the capacity of a staff accountant that includes closing of books, managing intercompany reconciliations, doing journal entries, bank reconciliations, etc
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with enterprise level accounting software. Preferred experience with Intacct
  • Excited about using new systems, and ability to navigate between them; we use Nexonia, Bill.com, Intacct, FloQast, and Adaptive Insights
  • Prefer that candidate has family office experience and/or multi-entity experience
