Our Fremont based client has an immediate need for a strong Staff Accountant to come on board on a fully onsite, temp to hire basis. You will provide purchasing function and grant accounting duties for selected grants in accordance with standard accounting practices and additional accounting functions as assigned. The Staff Accountant's responsibilities will include: GL accounting, journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and help with month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong GL and reconciliation experience. In addition, this person should be a team player, hardworking and have good communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains all vendor records through the purchasing module including, but not limited to entering all relevant information and assigning P.O. number
  • Review and prepare purchase order requisitions, and process for payment
  • Review open order reports to determine status of open orders on an as need basis using the accounting system and provide monthly status report to Controller
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Work flexible schedule and overtime, as necessary


AR Duties:

  • Record cash receipts and credit card transactions
  • Posts revenues by verifying the source codes
  • generation and reconciliation of Grants and Patients receivable reports in MIP


AP Duties:

  • Assist in various accounting functions as requested, including payroll, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, accounting research, and other accounting activities


Qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of accounting experience, BA or AA in Accounting recommended
  • Experience with computerized accounting software, MS Office (especially Excel), banking transactions, payroll systems, and fund accounting systems
  • Community Health or Non-profit experience, preferred not needed
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service
  • Successfully manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet
  • The ability to investigate and analyze information, draw conclusions and problem solve.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
